The Rotherham Federation Staff Awards were presented at the RMBC Tenant Conference on Wednesday 5th July 2017 at New York Stadium. A lot of nominations were received reflecting some of the excellent work undertaken by Housing Staff at RMBC and housing repairs contractors Mears and Fortem. All the awards were nominated by Rotherham Council tenants and presented by the Mayor, Cllr Eve Rose.

Housing Involvement Panel Chair, Stella Parkin announced the winner of the  RMBC Individual Housing Staff Member of the Year 2017  Award was Natalie Tamasi . The nomination was made by Mark Tideswell and Aston TARA who in their nomination wrote “she  is approachable and will always look out for the resident’s best interest within the community.”

Stella also  presented the Group Staff Award to  Angela Hammond, Melanie Applegate and Mark Brooks Green who were nominated by Hilda Nixon for their “quick attention to fire damage of my kitchen and all three staff stayed until my son arrived from Peterbrough at 7pm in the evening”

Pat Cahill Chair of Rotherham Federation, presented the awards to Mears staff who had undertaken that extra. The winning individual was Stephen McKenna. Stephen was nominated by Kathleen Strothard who has now sadly passed away. Her husband wrote that Stephen helped improve her quality of life with considerate and courteous workmanship.

The winning team at Mears was Daniel Gawthorpe and Lee Naylor. They were nominated by Mr.L.Eaton.

Lilian Shears, the Vice Chair of Rotherham Federation presented the Fortem Housing Staff Member of the Year 2017 Awards. The winning individual was John English. There were a number of nominations for John ,one of whom was  Margaret Clarkson who wrote in her nomination “John did my annual gas service. He is so nice, has worked for the company a long time and every time he attends my property he is polite, sociable and a lovely lovely man”. A special award was presented to  work experience student Emma Bartholomew who worked with John English and is now an apprentice at  Fortem.

The winning team at Fortem was Lee Parkin and Paul Beeley.
